Through two electric vehicle line-ups, expanded DC charging facilities, and cross-industry collaboration
Jakarta, December 15, 2023 – Wuling Motors (Wuling) today officially launched its second electric vehicle in Indonesia, the BinguoEV (read: Bing-go EV). This momentum confirms Wuling’s long-term commitment to accelerating vehicle electrification in the country by producing two electric vehicles at its factory located in Cikarang, West Java. Wuling also officially started a strategic collaboration with three State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), namely PLN Icon Plus, Bank Mandiri, and Telkomsel. In addition, Wuling also plans to expand the electric vehicle charging network equipped with fast charging facilities in Indonesia.
“The electric vehicle segment has reached 2% market share in the country’s automotive market, while globally it has reached 10%. Even in China, it has reached 35%. This indicates that the era of green mobility has arrived and more and more global people are enjoying comfortable, efficient, and low-emission transportation solutions. Therefore, with the spirit of ‘Drive For A Green Life’, Wuling is committed to continuing innovating through its electric vehicle products and also the development of its supporting ecosystem to realize environmentally friendly mobility for the people of Indonesia,” explained Arif Pramadana as Vice President of Wuling Motors.
Wuling’s commitment to vehicle electrification is realized by producing two lines of electric vehicles at once, namely Air ev and BinguoEV locally at the Wuling factory located in Cikarang, West Java. Both have also received a positive response from the Indonesian public with Air ev recording more than 13,000 unit sales since its launch in August 2022 and holding the title as the best-selling EV in Indonesia, as well as the achievement of more than 3,000 SPK bookings made by BinguoEV since its first appearance in mid-November.
Electric vehicle growth is directly proportional to the development of an integrated supporting ecosystem. One of them is charging facilities. Wuling electric vehicles carry the concept of easy home charging which can be done easily at home. However, to complement the ease of charging and provide more convenience for consumers in further mobility, Wuling plans to present fast charging facilities with IEC BB format at 100 points in various regions of Indonesia by 2024 through cooperation with EVPower.
In addition, at the launch of BinguoEV, Wuling also held a memorandum of understanding signing procession themed ‘EVolution Indonesia: Accelerating Sustainable Ecosystem for a Greener Future’ with three SOEs namely PLN Icon Plus, Bank Mandiri, and Telkomsel to develop the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. In this partnership, PLN Icon Plus plays a role in enhancing the public charging infrastructure network and providing home charging solutions.
Wuling also partners with Bank Mandiri in the financial aspect. To support the transition to electric vehicles, Bank Mandiri provides ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) financing solutions as part of a joint commitment to support the eco-friendly vehicle ecosystem. Through this collaboration, Wuling not only provides innovative vehicles but also ensures that customers can access financing that supports the vision of sustainability, creating a positive synergy between modern mobility and environmental responsibility.
Then, Wuling and Telkomsel collaborate to provide a driving experience with more connectivity for customers and provide solutions for Wuling as an electric vehicle manufacturer. This collaboration not only ensures Wuling customers stay connected on every trip but also opens the door to leading solutions in the electric vehicle industry. With the combination of Wuling’s expertise in producing innovative vehicles and Telkomsel as a leading telecommunications service provider, this collaboration presents a connected EV ecosystem for sustainable mobility.
“We hope that this collaboration will provide benefits in realizing an environmentally friendly mobility ecosystem for a better future for Indonesia. We also continue to open the door of collaboration and invite various parties with the same vision of building an electric vehicle ecosystem to accelerate vehicle electrification in Indonesia,” said Arif Pramadana.
