Wuling Plans to Produce Electric Vehicle Battery in Indonesia Named MAGIC Battery

Jakarta, September 20th 2024 – During the Wuling September Meriah exhibition at The Forum, Mall Kelapa Gading 3, Wuling Motors (Wuling) announced the next step in developing the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia. As part of Wuling’s commitment to supporting sustainable, eco-friendly vehicles, Wuling plans to start producing EV batteries domestically in Indonesia by the end of 2024. This is a concrete manifestation of Wuling’s long-term commitment to playing an active role in the automotive industry in the country, as well as offering safer and more convenient mobility for the Indonesian public in the future.
“After presenting the Lifetime Core EV Component Warranty and becoming the first brand to provide this service, Wuling will continue its steps to produce Wuling EV batteries in Indonesia by the end of 2024. This step is a form of Wuling’s commitment to participating in building the EV ecosystem in Indonesia and adding comfort and peace of mind for every Wuling EV owner. The Wuling EV battery that will be produced domestically is known as the MAGIC Battery” said Liu Yan, Marketing Operation Director Wuling Motors.
The name MAGIC Battery is an acronym representing various aspects applied to this battery. Starts from ‘M’ which stands for Multifunction Unitize Structure Technology, then ‘A’ for Advanced Cell Safety, ‘G’ for Greater Performance, ‘I’ that represents Intelligent Management, and lastly ‘C’ for Combustion Free.
Multifunction Unitized Structure Technology (MUST) is inspired by the design of aircraft wings. In general, the structure, side panels, and cooling layer are 3 different components. However, Wuling’s MAGIC Battery integrates these three parts into one functional part, forming a very light and high-strength battery structure. This integrated structure increases structural strength by 60% with the same amount of material weight. In addition, this battery has modular capabilities that make it easy to repair.
The MAGIC Battery is equipped with advanced battery cells (Advanced Cell Safety). It is called advanced cell safety because of the improvement of the structure in the battery cell, including the use of ceramic layers as low-heat conductors. So that it can minimize the occurrence of short circuits, leaks, evaporation, and excessive heat. In addition, the battery cells used in Wuling’s MAGIC Battery have gone through a series of tests and have been declared passed so that the battery cells continue to function normally in the event of a collision and there is no case of exploding or burning by itself.
By applying MUST and Advanced Cell Safety, the MAGIC Battery capability increases (Greater Performance) both in terms of performance and safety level. The performance side that increases consists of the power discharge aspect, battery capacity usage, physical impedance, long battery cycle usage, and high safety level in use, so that the MAGIC Battery is more efficient, lighter, durable, good performance, and safe.
MAGIC Battery combines two intelligent sources to monitor battery conditions. The first is the High Precision Battery Management System (BMS), which can monitor in real-time. The second is cloud-based AI that can monitor 240 security controls and give more than 80 warnings if an error occurs. This Intelligent Management ensures that the battery can be monitored with high accuracy throughout its life cycle, thus providing complete security for users.
“With this technology and performance, it is a guarantee and proof that Wuling electric car batteries, which have sold over 2 million units worldwide, have never experienced spontaneous combustion or explosion cases,” added Liu Yan.
