Principal’s Appreciation for Wuling’s Achievements in Indonesia and Strong Commitment to Indonesia as Part of Its Global Strategy

Tangerang, July 23, 2025 –  During the exclusive media session at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, Wuling’s principal company, SGMW (SAIC-GM-Wuling), presented its vision for Wuling’s future development in Indonesia. This presentation was made in line with Wuling’s various positive achievements in the country and to demonstrate the principal’s strong commitment to positioning Indonesia as a key part of Wuling’s global strategy.

“Here in Indonesia, we have delivered more than 160,000 vehicles, and we are proud to have become the No.1 Chinese auto brand in the country. We came with a mission not only to sell cars but more importantly to build a brand that understands local needs, to manufacture in Indonesia and to transform mobility through accessible, reliable innovation,” explained Vincent Wong, Executive Vice President of SGMW Headquarters.

Global Presence

Globally, SGMW has sold over 30 million vehicles and ranks among the top three electric vehicle manufacturers in the world, with more than 3 million EV users. SGMW’s export network now spans over 100 countries, with total shipments exceeding 1.2 million units.

As the global automotive trend shifts toward sustainable mobility, Wuling has been one of the earliest companies to transition toward electrification and is the first to manufacture electric vehicles locally in Indonesia. The Wuling EV product lineup, known as the ‘ABC’ Stories, has become a popular family of electric cars among Indonesian consumers.

EV ABC

The Wuling Air ev is the first electric vehicle to be locally manufactured in Indonesia, emphasizing a compact, stylish, and affordable design. Following that, the Wuling BinguoEV was introduced as an electric car that features a smart and modern design, making the vehicle not just functional but also emotionally engaging. Then comes the Wuling Cloud EV, which offers practical electric mobility solutions for both families and businesses. Through these three EV product lines, Wuling has successfully built public trust in the brand, demonstrating that electric vehicles are not just the future but also the present.

“I am excited to announce that SGMW is entering a bold new chapter. This is not just about new products; it’s a shift in how we think about mobility: smarter, more human-centered, and globally connected. And now, I am proud to share that we will be introducing our latest technologies and products right here in Indonesia, with local production starting this year,” added Vincent Wong.

To realize this vision, SGMW has built one of the strongest R&D teams in the industry, collaborating with over 50 leading partners and more than 5,000 engineers. Additionally, SGMW holds over 1,500 patents for advanced technologies that support 22 vehicle models across its entire portfolio.

“And we will continue to invest in the people, partners, and communities that make up this great country. Transformation is not a straight line. There have been challenges, and there will be more. But our conviction remains firm. We believe that the future of mobility belongs to those who are brave enough to shape it together,” concluded Vincent Wong.
