12 September, 2024
A collaboration in the form of building a battery-based electric vehicle ecosystem on the island of the Gods
Jimbaran, September 12, 2024 – PT SGMW Motor Indonesia (Wuling) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Bali-Kerthi Development Fund Ventura (BDF) today (12/09) at Imperial Ballroom the Intercontinental Bali Resort Jimbaran. The signing ceremony, held during the Periklindo Electric Vehicle Conference (PEVC), was also attended by Shi Guoyong, President Director of Wuling Motors and I Made Gunawirawan, CEO of BDF and witnessed by General (Ret.) Dr. Moeldoko, S.I.P, Chairman of Periklindo and IGW Samsi Gunarta, Head of Department of Transportation in Bali Province. The signing of this MoU is the first step for Wuling and BDF in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem on the Island of Gods.
“Bali has significant potential for the growth of electric vehicles beyond Java. This is driven by the rising trend of eco-friendly tourism and the lifestyle of renting electric vehicles by both domestic and international tourists as a mobility partner during their stay in Bali. We hope that this initiative will positively contribute to the tourism sector and accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. This aligns with our ‘Drive for a Better and Green Life’ spirit,” explained Shi Guoyong, President Director of Wuling Motors.
In this MoU, Wuling together with BDF will encourage the use of electric vehicles in green zones and become one of the ways to promote tourist areas that support green initiatives. That way electric vehicles can become the main environmentally friendly transportation. This step not only supports environmental preservation in protected areas, but also helps build Bali’s image as a sustainable tourist destination.
In addition, both parties jointly develop infrastructure to support the accelerated adoption of electric vehicles, with a focus on strategic locations to facilitate access for electric vehicle users from both the society and tourists who use them.
Other aspects covered in this cooperation are EV ecosystem development, electric car user training and data exchange to optimize the use and management of electric vehicles. Of course, this can be a useful aspect that will be developed for mutual benefit in the future.
In this memorandum of understanding, Wuling also seeks to increase the competitiveness of electric vehicles by providing affordable financing, special incentives and maintenance support. With these offers, society and businesses will find it easier to own electric vehicles and help encourage the growth of green tourism in Bali.
Another form of cooperation is Wuling providing electric vehicles for display at various events to increase public awareness and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. This program is expected to be a place to share the experience of driving an electric car and reach more people, as well as increase public awareness of the benefits and advantages of using this battery-based electric vehicle.
“This initiative with Wuling is a strategic step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Bali. PT Bali-Kerthi Development Fund Ventura is committed to supporting the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. Through this collaboration, it can certainly have a positive impact on Bali and further increase the use of electric cars among the public so that the popularity of electric cars can grow faster and strengthen Bali as an environmentally friendly tourist destination,” explained I Made Gunawirawan, CEO of BDF.
