The grand prize winner of this competition receives one unit of the Wuling BinguoEV, complete with the livery design created by them.
Jakarta, February 17, 2025 – In December 2024, Wuling Motors (Wuling) collaborated with the Jakarta Illustration & Creative Arts Fair (JICAF) to kick off the “Your Art Your Icon” competition. This competition provided a platform for Indonesian designers and artists to express their creative ideas through artwork applied to the exterior of the BinguoEV. The winners were announced today at Wuling’s booth, Hall D, booth D2, during the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 at JIEXPO Kemayoran. The grand prize winner of this competition receives one (1) unit of the Wuling BinguoEV, complete with a custom exterior featuring the livery design created by the winner.
Sunny Gho, Co-Founder of JICAF, shared his thoughts on the competition: “What I was looking for was how the illustrators maximized the surface of the BinguoEV. Usually, competitions are two-dimensional, but this one is three-dimensional, with four sides, even the roof, and the wheels as objects. Many of the participants made great use of these features, which I find to be a huge plus. I also noticed the unique signatures of each illustrator—how they showcased their style in a distinctive and different way from the others. This became an important consideration for me.”
After the kick-off on December 16, 2024, Wuling and JICAF began collecting submissions and held roadshows in four major cities across Indonesia: Surabaya, Solo, Bandung, and Jakarta. This roadshow aimed to reach a wider range of illustrators from diverse backgrounds and provide them with the opportunity to participate in a competition that blends art and automotive technology. During this period, more than 1,000 participants submitted their creative designs for the BinguoEV’s exterior.
The next stage involved curating and shortlisting the submitted artworks. During this process, the jury evaluated several aspects, including visual aesthetics. This aspect focused on the visual harmony created by participants, using the BinguoEV as the canvas for the competition. The relevance of the design to the theme, the clarity of the concept, and the message conveyed by the design were also assessed. Other factors such as originality and creativity, which had to have a strong and iconic identity, were also considered.
“Wow! The challenge for me was how tough it was to judge, because the illustrations were all amazing! During the judging, I, Sunny Gho, and Arief Sutrisno had some long debates because we all had different standards of evaluation. Maybe I leaned towards commercial aesthetics, Sunny Gho focused more on the technical aspects, and Arief Sutrisno viewed it from a product and brand perspective. But finally, the three of us agreed, and we selected the 20 shortlisted entries and the top 3 winners! You deserved it, guys!” said Martcellia Liunic, a Jakarta-based artist and one of the judges in the competition.
Arief Sutrisno, Brand Strategy Manager at Wuling Motors, also added, “Thank you to all the participants who joined this competition and congratulations to the winners. We are thrilled to see how participants have creatively designed the BinguoEV’s exterior and transformed it into unique, character-filled artworks. This competition proves that the BinguoEV is not just a vehicle, but also a canvas for the creativity of Indonesian artists and designers. Moreover, its iconic exterior design perfectly complements personal creativity.”
The grand prize winner of this competition, who received the special prize of one (1) unit of Wuling BinguoEV, complete with a livery design inspired by the freedom to express oneself, is Mafazi Qisti Sitepu. The second-place winner, Sigit Ezra, earned the MacBook Pro M3 with his design titled ‘Joy Beyond The Limit of Dreams’. Meanwhile, the third-place winner, Bethania Brigitta, whose design extended her identity and carried her story wherever she went, was also highly appreciated and received an iPad Pro M4 as a prize.
