Media Experience Indonesia’s First PHEV MPV on the Bali to Jakarta Route

A total of 28 national media journalists invited to experience the efficiency and comfort of the Darion PHEV for more than 1,000 km
Bali, November 17, 2025 – After successfully completing the Jakarta to Bali journey in the first wave, Wuling Motors continues the Media Drive Darion: Evolving Family Moments series with 28 national media journalists. In this second batch, held from November 17 to 19, 2025, participants are invited to embark on a long-distance trip from Bali to Jakarta to directly experience the comfort, efficiency, and performance of the Wuling Darion PHEV, the first MPV in Indonesia equipped with Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology. A total of seven Darion PHEV units are provided as vehicles for the media representatives throughout this journey.
“Through this media drive, we want to give media representatives the opportunity to directly experience the capabilities of the Darion PHEV along the long route from Bali to Jakarta. Beyond enjoying the comfort of the cabin and its complete features, they can also directly test the efficiency and performance offered by Ling Power technology. This route also represents the type of road trip commonly taken by Indonesian families during holidays,” said Brian Gomgom, Brand Communication Senior Manager of Wuling Motors.
Before starting the journey from Bebek Bengil, Nusa Dua, participants attended a briefing session on the various settings and features available in the Darion PHEV. This included explanations of energy modes such as EV Max, EV First, HEV, and Fuel Priority, as well as the driving modes consisting of Custom, ECO, Standard, and Sport. In addition, the brake pedal response and EPS settings can also be adjusted according to each driver’s preference to ensure an optimal driving experience across different road conditions.
“The wide selection of settings in the Darion PHEV is designed to offer broad flexibility for drivers. Whether seeking maximum efficiency or more responsive performance, all these options can be adjusted to deliver comfort and full control throughout long-distance journeys,” explained Aji Ibrahim, Product Planning Wuling Motors.
As part of the activity, Wuling once again presents the How Far Can You Go Challenge, inviting journalists to prove the real-world efficiency of the Darion PHEV. Participants drive as far as possible with only one full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, with the air conditioning turned on, four passengers in each vehicle, normal driving behavior, and adherence to speed limits and traffic rules.
“This challenge serves as an illustration of how the Darion PHEV delivers a balance between performance, energy efficiency, and the comfort of an MPV. This activity proves the Darion ability to maximize energy usage in various driving situations, while also allowing media representatives to try the different energy modes and drive modes available in this MPV,” added Danang Wiratmoko, Product Communication Manager Wuling Motors.
The second batch of the Darion Media Drive is divided into three main stages, starting from Bali to Banyuwangi on the first day, continuing from Banyuwangi to Solo, and concluding with the Solo to Jakarta route. Through this series of routes, media representatives experience the performance of the Darion PHEV across diverse road characteristics, from dense urban traffic areas and coastal roads to hilly terrain and toll roads.
For this event, participants use the Wuling Darion PHEV EX variant. This model is powered by the Ling Power Hybrid system, which combines a 1,498 cc gasoline engine with a 145 kW electric motor and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). This intelligent system optimizes the use of electric and gasoline power as needed for greater efficiency. When operating fully in electric mode, the Darion PHEV can travel up to 125 kilometers (CLTC), and in total, can reach up to 1,000 kilometers with a combination of gasoline and electric power.
