Wuling Invites Automotive Media to Experience Darion ‘Evolving Family Moments’ All the Way to Bali

28 automotive journalists experience Indonesia’s first PHEV MPV firsthand
Jakarta, November 10, 2025 – Wuling Motors (Wuling) invited 28 automotive media representatives to participate in the Wuling Darion Media Drive: Evolving Family Moments, held from November 10 to 12, 2025. In this activity, journalists embarked on a long-distance journey from Jakarta to the island of Bali to directly experience the Darion PHEV. This latest model from Wuling is Indonesia’s first MPV equipped with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology. A total of seven Wuling Darion PHEV units accompanied the media throughout the entire journey.
“Through this activity, fellow automotive journalists have the opportunity to experience long-distance driving with the Wuling Darion PHEV over several days. This is not only a chance to enjoy its premium comfort and spacious cabin but also to explore its efficiency and performance through the LING Power system. The route chosen for this media test drive is also one of the most popular routes for family road trips,” said Brian Gomgom, Brand Communication Senior Manager of Wuling Motors.
Before the journey began, media participants received a briefing on the vehicle’s key functions from Wuling’s Product Communication representatives. The explanation covered the vehicle’s energy modes EV Max, EV First, Hybrid, and Fuel Priority, as well as the driving modes which include Custom, Eco, Standard, and Sport. Even the brake pedal response and EPS can be adjusted based on driver preferences.
“The various driving modes in Darion PHEV provide flexibility for drivers to adapt the car’s performance to different road conditions and personal driving styles. From the energy-saving Eco mode to the more dynamic Sport mode, all settings are designed to offer a driving experience that is responsive, comfortable, and suitable for every journey,” explained Danang Wiratmoko, Product Communication Manager of Wuling Motors.
As part of the test drive event, Wuling also introduced a challenge for participating journalists titled How Far Can You Go Challenge. This activity invited media participants to prove the fuel and energy efficiency of the Darion PHEV by traveling as far as possible from Jakarta to Bali using a full tank and full battery charge. The driving conditions were kept realistic, with normal AC use, four passengers per vehicle, and adherence to speed limits and traffic regulations.
“The How Far Can You Go Challenge is our way to engage media participants in directly testing the real-world efficiency of the Darion PHEV during a long-distance trip. It’s a fun yet insightful activity that demonstrates how the Wuling Darion maintains balance between power, efficiency, and comfort across different driving conditions,” added Brian Gomgom.
The Media Drive Darion journey for automotive journalists was divided into three stages. The first stage began from Jakarta to Solo on the first day, followed by the second stage from Solo to Banyuwangi, and concluded with the final leg from Banyuwangi to Bali. This route was designed to showcase the Darion PHEV’s performance across diverse terrains from highways and mountain roads to dense city traffic.
The Wuling Darion PHEV EX variant used in this drive is powered by the Ling Power Hybrid system, which combines a 1,498 cc gasoline engine with a 145 kW electric motor and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). This technology intelligently optimizes the balance between the gasoline engine and electric motor to achieve maximum efficiency. In full electric mode, the Darion PHEV can travel up to 125 kilometers (CLTC), with a total range of up to 1,000 kilometers when combining both gasoline and electric power.
